Pre-romanesque in Asturias

Pre-romanesque in Asturias With examples dating back to the 8th century, when it was the last outpost of Christianity on the peninsula, Asturias is host to Spain's finest collection of pre-romanesque architecture. The style is said to come from the Goths, who invaded in the 5th century and there are some fine examples to be seen at Santa Maria del Naranco, just outside Oviedo, Santianes de Pravia, near Pravia, once the capital and Santiago de Gobiendes, near Colunga and the lovely Playa de Isla.
