El Mozucu fiesta, Cantabria

"El Mozucu" is a very local fiesta with a true family atmosphere, held in Udias near Cabezón de la Sal on the 9th of September. Decorative carts with the Virgen on board come from neighbouring Ruiloba to complete a promise made hundreds of years ago. After the mass in the lovely church of Barrio La Virgen, there is a complicated and colourful "stick" dance to celebrate the virgen. Then everyone heads off to a nearby picnic spot to drink and eat and be merry.
