National Park of Somiedo

National Park of SomiedoBelieve it or not, but you can still spot bears or at least their tracks in this most beautiful National Park of Somiedo, made up of five main valleys, inland from Belmonte de Miranda in Central Asturias. The first inhabitants of Somiedo, nomadic shepherds called "Vaqueiros de Alzada" still exist and have their unique culture and folklore and the area is dotted with "teitos", stone cottages with thatched roofs used by them. In the National Park of Somiedo there are some unique botanical species as well as chamois and the brown bear. An amazingly untouched area, great for walkers and those who like to adventure to get a glimpse of another world.
