Casa Vicki, Galicia

Olveira de Arriba | Ref: GOLV1 | Bedrooms: 3 | Sleeps: 8

Delightful country house with pool, near beaches, magnificent sand dunes and fishing ports.

This spacious, detached, single storey, stone house with a large, inviting swimming pool in 5000m2 of beautiful, natural, enclosed grounds, is a true surprise! Though built in 2002, you feel like you are stepping into a traditional Galician country home, expertly crafted in stone and wood, yet with all modern comforts alongside.

Up a country lane, backed by pine woods, with lovely views of the valley and of the coast on a clear day, you are seemingly away from it all, but within a very short drive are magnificent sand dunes, beaches and the picturesque fishing port of Corrubedo.

Beautifully designed and decorated with the owner's artistic eye ever present, it is so peaceful and relaxing that you might find it hard to tear yourself away.

Children will be delighted with the swings and the Wendy house and other toys provided and with all the outside space to explore.

Although there are no immediate amenities, a pleasant walk will take you to a local restaurant with many more nearby and Corrubedo has its share of shops and Ribeira, a little further, has all facilities. Day trips to the historical cities of Santiago, Pontevedra and Vigo are all easy.

Olveira de Arriba

Olveira de Arriba is a tiny hamlet backed by pine woods, just inland from the coast on the lovely Barbanza peninsula. There are no amenities here, but at just over a kilometre in Bretal there is a bar/restaurant and there are other restaurants in the vicinity. The nearest shops are about five kilometres away at Artes and Oleiros. The small and pretty, coastal town of Corrubedo, at seven kilometres, has more facilities and the large fishing port of Ribeira, at eleven kilometres, should have all that you need.

On the south side of the Barbanza peninsula are various resorts and ports with good shopping and eating; but this is a busier part of the world. To really “get away from it all” there are the white beaches and the amazing sand dunes of Cabo Corrubedo and its lovely little seaside town, the mixture of sand and low simple buildings giving a feeling of a more southern clime.

To the north along the southern shores of the ria de Muros y Noia are little towns and villages and a good choice of sandy beaches. Further amenities are at hand at picturesque Porto do Son and in Portosin with its tennis court and Club Maritimo. Noia (Noja) at the mouth of the estuary gives you a chance to combine shopping and history, as it has some grand old houses and three beautiful churches.

"Excellent. Great accommodation and host." (Client 2019)

"Very good villa with swimming pool". Client 2019

"We had the most amazing time staying at Casa Vicky! Vicky was a brilliant host who was so accommodating - she gave us lots of recommendations for local restaurants, beaches and other places to go to, which was brilliant as I don’t think we would have stumbled across them without her.
The area is not touristy at all and we didn’t come across another english person the whole time we were there which was wonderful! Anytime I had a question, Vicky was on the end of a text or phone call and answered straight away.
The house itself is stunning and full of character, and the garden is just amazing, perfect for the children with the pool and play area, as well as for playing hide and seek!
I would 100% recommend this property and we will definitely be back!!"
