Casa Soledad, Cantabria and Asturias

Liandres | Ref: LIA2 | Bedrooms: 3 | Sleeps: 6

Peaceful country house near the sea with lovely garden.

Set in a quiet cul-de-sac with lovely rural views, this semi-detached cottage offers a peaceful retreat for those who are looking for a country cum seaside holiday. With lovely beaches and some of Northern Spain's prettiest fishing villages within easy reach, you couldn't be in a better spot for exploring Cantabria and The Green Coast.

The house is on two floors with an open plan living room with a kitchen and a bathroom on the ground floor, and three bedrooms and a further small bathroom upstairs, all together offering a perfect blend of rustic charm and character.

At the entrance to the property, a semi-enclosed porch with glass windows serves as dining room in the warmer months. From here, a door leads into a fully enclosed garden surrounded by stone walls and vegetation, adding to the feeling of being in a unique and authentic setting.

With Comillas just a short drive away, restaurants and shops are conveniently close, and should you fancy a change of scenery, then the Picos de Europa mountains and the city of Santander are less than an hour's drive.

Accommodation Description

Entrance is from the porch directly into the open plan living room with a kitchen to the left, a bathroom at the back of the room and a staircase up to the first floor. Tiled floors, wooden windows and attractive country style furniture blend in well with the brickwork and the light-coloured walls. The kitchen is separated from the living area by a large breakfast bar which can be used as a worksurface or as a dining table.

Upstairs to a small landing and through to three bedrooms of which two have double beds (135cm) and the other has two single beds (90cm). All rooms are decorated in a warm and inviting style, with parquet flooring and plenty of natural light. A tiny bathroom with a shower unit has been fitted in ingeniously and covers all needs.

Outside, the south-facing porch has a large wooden table with seating capacity for 6 people. The porch leads into a patio area and further into a fully enclosed garden with lawn, shrubs, barbecue and garden furniture.

Liandres

Liandres is one of the many hamlets that belong to the municipality of Ruiloba, a lovely and very popular part of coastal Cantabria. The village boasts a gorgeous picnic area with a chapel, a restaurant and great sea views. Nearest bars are in the neighbouring hamlet of La Iglesia.

The lovely old town of Comillas is only three kilometres away. Here you will find lots of shops, restaurants, bars, banks, a tourist office and a busy Friday market.

Comillas sits on the hills above a beautiful bay and a little harbour.

Although it is expanding, its fascinating mixture of old houses overlooked by the dignified buildings of the former theological seminary make Comillas a delight to wander through. The architect Gaudi’s folly El Capricho, now restored and open for visitors with tickets, is just one of the big old residences worth a look.

Comillas beach is long and sandy, very ‘seasidey’ with its esplanade, while the pretty walled harbour makes a good walk with splendid views along the coast, the comings and goings of the fishing boats an extra fascination.

Town and beach have a relaxed holiday feel about them – and fairly bustle in July and August.
