Spacious house with pool and mountain views near Potes in the Picos

Casa Pili is a handsome, solid, very well maintained and spacious detached, south facing house with a swimming pool, set in large enclosed grounds on different levels. Above the road in Ojedo, very near the market town of Potes in the Picos de Europa, there are lovely views of the hills, vineyards and mountains.

Built in the traditional style of the region with a fine balcony running across the front of the building, its smart modern interior, with its particularly roomy bedrooms, makes a very comfortable holiday home. Very well equipped and practically furnished, with one bedroom and two bathrooms on the ground floor, it is a great house for all ages.

Sit out in the covered porch, laze in the garden or have a refreshing drink by the pool (there is a little bar area there too), there is plenty of space for everyone.

Ojedo has a supermarket and a shop and two bars and restaurants and Potes, an easy walk, has all that you need, including several activity companies, that provide all sorts of outdoor activities to ensure you get the most out of this fantastic area.

Accommodation Description

Front gate opens into the large, fully enclosed grounds which have a tarmacked area and lawn and fruit trees at the front of the house. Up tarmacked slope at side of house or up steps at the other side to the back garden which is fully enclosed and laid to lawn and the swimming pool and bar area which are separated from this by a gate and by fencing.

Fixed BBQ area. Covered patio area and a table and chairs to front door.

Front door opens into the hall with a round table and chairs and sideboard. Off this to the left to the fully fitted kitchen with a table and chairs.

From hall to the living room with door onto the balcony which runs all across the front of the house.

Off the hall to the right to a passage. Off this, the utility room, a bathroom and the master bedroom (double) with ensuite bathroom and door onto the main balcony at the front of the house.

Up wooden staircase to landing. Off this, three bedrooms (one double, one twin, one twin with sofabed) and a bathroom.

NB The large garage on the ground floor is for guests use if required and has direct access into the house via an internal stairway.

Right at the heart of the Valle de Liebana with the River Deva running by at the bottom of the village, Ojedo is a great base from which to get around and has all the facilities close at hand.

There is an authentic Cantabrian bar/shop open almost all hours, a great bakery, a supermarket, chemist and several restaurants including the Restaurant Peña Sagra which is popular with locals and visitors alike .

You can easily walk from here into Potes which is less than a mile away. There is a very popular, traditional fiesta, San Tirso, on the 24th of August.

  • Walking locally and to other villages beyond and to Potes (signposted).
  • Walk the Ruta de Cares from Posada de Valdeon.
  • Birdwatching. From the garden alone you will be amazed by the variety of species.
  • Horse-riding in nearby Vinon.
  • Fishing in the River Deva (but with a licence).
  • Swimming in the river below the village.
  • Many outdoor activity companies in Potes.
  • Explore the interesting old town of Potes.
  • Visit the fascinating churches in Piasca and Santa Maria de Lebena and the monastery of Santo Toribio.
  • Take the cable car up to the heights at Fuente De.
  • Sample the gastronomy of the region at many family run restaurants - cocido lebaniego, the local dish, not to be missed!
  • Take a day trip by the San Glorio pass to the city of Leon with its amazing cathedral.

Getting There

The Picos de Europa has excellent access by air and sea:

Stansted to Bilbao with Easyjet or Santander with Ryanair;
Gatwick to Bilbao or Oviedo with Vueling (BA).
Manchester to Bilbao with Easyjet;
Bristol to Bilbao with Easyjet;
Edinburgh to Santander with Ryanair or Bilbao with Easyjet;
Dublin to Santander with Ryanair or Bilbao with Aer Lingus.

NB Flights are not included but we can advise on routes and timetables

Ferries: Plymouth or Portsmouth to Santander or Bilbao – 7 sailings weekly.
We can include the ferry crossings as part of the package
