Casa Peitieiros, Galicia

Peitieiros | Ref: GGON2 | Bedrooms: 4 | Sleeps: 8

Delightful country house in beautiful grounds near the coast.

A delightful stone, detached, country house set in a beautiful large, enclosed garden with lovely views across the valley down to the coast and the historic town of Baiona in the distance.

It is a real family home, immaculately decorated, furnished and presented with an eye to detail to make a very comfortable holiday base. Very well and tastefully equipped, you should not lack anything here.

Roomy and well designed so that everyone has their space, it even maintains the original, traditional kitchen (there is a modern kitchen too) which transports you back in time and makes a cosy hideaway for a cup of tea or a glass of albarino!

In the upper part of the small village of Peitieiros, set in lush countryside, there is a bar/shop serving food around the corner and the market town of Gondomar, a five minute drive and the fantastic beaches of Playa America and La Ladreira just ten kilometres.

The house has WIFI.

Peitieiros

Peitieiros is a small village in lush countryside of vineyards and forests, two and a half kilometres to the market town of Gondomar and ten kilometres to the lovely coast and beach at Playa America. The historic town of Baiona, where Colombus '"La Pinta"landed, is just south of this, and to the north is the impressive bay at Panxon, lined with family run "fishy" restaurants.

The village has a bar/shop serving food and bread vans visit daily, but for most of the facilities that you need, including a covered market and a lively street market on Mondays, a health centre and chemist's, banks, a good choice of bars and restaurants and little shops and supermarkets then Gondomar is your best bet and just a short drive or longer walk.

Local Activities

  • Lovely beaches in Spain and Portugal within an easy drive. Playa de America at Ramallosa is the nearest. Playa de Patos, just north of this, great for surfing.
  • Good local walking including the Parque Natural de Monte Aloia with five signposted walks and cycle route from Nigran to Baiona along the coast.
  • Wine tasting route - sample the delicious Albariño wine grown in this region.
  • Gastronomy - abundant fish and seafood.
  • Wonderful choice of restaurants at A Guarda and at Panxon.
  • Variety of gastronomic fiestas throughout the summer.
  • Visit the Celtic site of Monte Tecla and museum above A Guarda.
  • Four challenging golf courses within an hour's drive.
  • Numerous towns and cities to visit both in Spain and Portugal - Baiona, Tui, Valenca, Vigo, Pontevedra to name a few.
  • Antique market on Saturdays at Vilanova, just over the bridge into Portugal from Tomino.
