The friendly, most attentive yet discreet owners (they live in extensive, separate grounds at the back of the house) and their maintenance staff (who look after the grounds and pool daily) will make sure your stay is a very special one.
Casa Porto Barreiro, with the warmth of its pine clad walls and floors, is spacious yet cosy, and very comfortable, with every attention to detail. Very well and tastefully equipped and furnished, both the interior of the house and the outside areas create a total feeling of relaxation and well being. Sitting on the terrace at night, watching the stars, is a marvel in itself.
Should you manage to tear yourself away, the nearby town of Ponteareas (famous for its festival of Corpus Christi in June, when the streets are paved with flowers) at two kilometres should have everything you need and the lively cities of Vigo, Pontevedra and Ourense are all within easy reach, while for beach days the lovely sandy beaches south of Vigo are just half an hour away.

N.B. The property has WIFI; the maintenance staff will deal with your rubbish, clean the pool during your stay and open and close the awning over the terrace in the mornings and at night.

The fantastic spa (the oldest in Spain)and 18 hole golf course at Mondariz are just five kilometres away, the nearest beach Playa America, a half an hour's drive, the departure point for the ferry to the magnificent Islas Cies just twenty minutes and the fortress towns with their colourful markets of Tui and into Portugal, Valenca ,thirty kilometres away.
Nearer at hand you have the lovely Rio Tea with its fluvial beaches and a beautiful riverside walk of twenty kilometres.

4. Take a ferry to the amazing Islas Cies - departure point in Vigo just twenty minutes from the house.

6. Locally, visit the castle at Sobroso, the Castro de Trona, the Convent at Canedo and the ancient watermills "Los muinos de Couso".
7. Not far away, is the jewel of a town, Ribadavia, with its fascinating old jewish quarter and wonderful cake shop still making recipes from centuries ago.
8. A Caniza, on the way to Ribadavia is well worth a visit too for its beautifully cured ham.
9.Enjoy the colourful markets at the fortress towns of Tui and Valenca (just into Portugal) - thirty kilometres away.
10. Go river swimming at the fluvial beaches of the Rio Tea and follow the twenty kilometre walk along its riverbank.
11. Follow the wine routes and sample the deliciously fresh albarinos and ribeiros at the bodegas.
13. Sample the local gastronomy at the many, family run country restaurants. Feast on fish and seafood at the more sophisticated ones.
14.If you come in June, don't miss the wonderful, internationally renowned Corpus Christi festival at Ponteares when the streets are paved with flowers.
