El Estudio, Galicia

Saians | Ref: GVIG3 | Bedrooms: 1 | Sleeps: 2

A little gem for a seaside holiday. Views to the magical Islas Cies.

Over forty years ago the delightful, warm and welcoming owners of this charming, atmospheric, little cottage chose to live in this magnificently dramatic and beautiful spot on the spectacular rugged coastline running south from the fascinating city and port of Vigo, where the writer, Laurie Lee, landed to start his amazing travels through Spain.

Too wonderful not to share, they decided to offer this property and three others which are set in their lovingly landscaped and nurtured gardens, right on the coast, looking out to the magical Islas Cies, to those wanting a complete break from the stress and worries of modern times. Just the sunsets alone - never one the same, and the benign micro-climate of the Rias Baixas in Galicia, will take your troubles away.

El Estudio is the smallest of the properties, a great base for two people or perhaps three with a young child as the main living/sleeping area is all open plan. Tucked behind one of the other properties, La Casita de Pilar, it has its own terrace, and garden to one side and above, with magnificent sea views (the garden is shared, but everyone is allocated a space). Perhaps not as private as the other two properties, but it is very comfortable, relaxing and cosy.

The properties and 3000m2 of enclosed, shared grounds are in a small, pretty, residential area, facing the coast. The little, local beach and restaurant are a very short walk and the nearest shop and another beach a tiny bit further.

Not far away is La Playa de Patos, great for surfing, Monte Ferro, good for walking, and just beyond the laid back (but lively in summer) resort of Panxón, with a lovely horseshoe bay with typical bars and restaurants, serving seafood delights. The city of Vigo is a fifteen minute drive and Santiago de Compostela an hour away.

N.B. The owners have several pets. They will accept pets.

From the rugged coastline just south of Vigo the pretty seaside village of Saians, ever popular with Madrileños in the know, looks out to the Atlantic and the Islas Cies nature park.

Saians itself has two small beaches and within a short drive you can get to Playa de Patos and Playa de las Americas. There is good walking just inland and within twenty minutes you can be in the thriving port of Vigo or historic Baiona, the first town to hear news of Columbus' discovery of America when the Pinta arrived there in 1493.

The village has a supermarket and a restaurant and a bar/restaurant above the beach, but for more amenities, the seaside town of Panxon is just three kilometres.

Here you are well placed to make forays into the north of Portugal and Santiago de Compostela, Pontevedra and Tui are all within striking distance.

Reviews of this property

"El Studio is a superbly located property with stunning views over sea. The property is part of a complex with enclosed in superbly tended gardents.
The owner Juan spoke excellent English and was great with his advice and sorted any small issues out very quickly.
The property had a vine covered terrace outside the door & window which provided welcome shade on the very hot days we had in August 2018. The property is simply furnished with a wonderful shower room..... We visited many of the local beaches and visited the Praie de Americas the most - where we enjoyed joining the locals in the beach paseo along the 2km of sand.
Panxon has some lovely beachside café/restaurants - we ate at the Pescadoro restaurant for a paella which was excellent. Our favourite activity was relaxing on the roof garden of the property watching the sunset with a glass of the local wine, where we were lucky enough to see dolphins on 2 evenings. The owners pets dogs/cats are very friendly and will welcome you whenever you enter the property or leave....."
