Llonin

Llonin is a tiny hamlet in eastern Asturias in the heart of the Picos de Europa. It sits in the folds of the beautiful valley of the Rio Cares from which it is only a short walk.

There is a small shop on the main road, selling fresh bread and regional products and there are two restaurants a very short drive away. The town of Panes, at eight kilometres, should have all you need in the way of food shopping - there is an excellent butcher's there and a very well stocked little supermarket.

Being so close to the Rio Cares this is a fly fisherman’s paradise as well as a delight for the walker and nature lover, with literally thousands of spectacular routes to suit all abilities. Local highlights include the Lagos de Covadonga, the Naranjo de Bulnes and of course the Cares gorge, one of Spain’s most spectacular walks.

For those wishing to spend time at beaches the coast is only a twenty minute drive, whereas those looking for something more active will find a full range of mountain activities on offer in Panes or Arenas de Cabrales, both of which are within a short drive.

Local Activities

  • Fishing (trout & salmon) in Rio Cares.
  • Walking - good walks from the door.
  • Visit Picos de Europa.
  • Visit Panes, Colombres, Unquera, Llanes.
  • Nearby lovely beaches at Pechon, La Franca.
  • Active sports eg canoeing, mountain biking.
