Vindimia - the grape harvest

Late September is a lovely time to visit northern Portugal, southern Galicia or La Rioja, as all through the valleys the grapes are being harvested. The strong summer sun is a little gentler, the vines are turning all shades of gold and red and walking or driving through the countryside where so much is going on is very pleasant.
