A fiesta not to be missed for those staying in La Costa Lucence area of Galicia. A Rapa das Bestas, literally the branding of wild horses, is held on the first Sunday in July in the village of Santo André de Boimente in the hills near Viveiro with beautiful views of the spectacular coastline. Bring along your own picnic and join in all the fun. A Rapa das Bestas starts off with a traditional breakfast of garlic soup and then the horsemen get into full swing, rounding up the wild horses, taming and then branding them. The festivities go on until night falls.
