Catalunya (as it is spelt in Catalan), famous for its beach resorts and of course for Barcelona, its flamboyant capital city, has much more than this to offer, combining a Mediterranean climate with sunshine all but guaranteed with a wealth of cultural and gastronomic attractions.
In the north the mountainous terrain comes down to the coast in the rocky coves of the Costa Brava whilst further south the slightly softer landscape, covered in vineyards, gives way to mile after mile of golden sandy beaches.
